Don't know exactly what you are looking for but this link might be of some help to you. There was a discussion regarding the Hawkeye in one of our prevoius threads under ATV Manufacturer, Polaris:
A kid down the road has one, I don't like it one bit, its very slow, and don't have much power, but the suspension is deff like any other Polaris, nice and soft...I'd say thier good beginner quads, but if your a least bit experianced, I would'ent get it, you'll get bored real quick...
I would have to agree with Kodiakman450. I think in my opinion, that you would not be happy with this bike. If you look at the past posts on this, you will see what I have had to say, but I will say it again. Stay away from any atv's that do not have a high/low range. You are just asking for trouble with out the low range when you get into the bad stuff(I mean the fun stuff) with out it. For a few more dollars if you are looking for a Polaris, I would go with the 450 Sportsman. It is by far a better bike. Lets face it if you are going to dish out a couple ot thou on a bike, why not put out a little more and get a better bike for your dollar. Another reason for a high/low range, as I have said before with an automatic tranny, if you are trail riding on bad or good trails how ever you want to put it, and you are running at less than 20 miles and hour, you should put the bike in low range. Low range will keep the polaris clutch in top shape. I have seen so many polaris bikes going in to my friends shop that have been run in high all of the time, and seen what it will do to the clutch it will wear a groove into it. I have also heard that the Hawkeye is made in China, same as that other little one they have. And that it runs with not a PVT clutch but a it htink it is called a CVT or the same clutch system as a chain saw. This causes the bike to really bog on hills and in the mud, and top that off with not low range and it is stuck city for you. Getting stuck is part of the game, but not all of the time. But it still comes down to what you want. Just remember that this site is full of guys who trully want old as well as new riders to get the best bike they can to have the fun they want. tudball.
So, tudball, are you of the opinion that purchasing a Polaris Hawkeye would be a bad idea?
Not really Mike. I am sure it is a very good bike, but I think anyone who is looking for a bike, and is going to spent thousands of dollars, should if they can drop a couple hundred more and get a better bike. I know that this is not always the case, for most people. I have a little knowledge of this, because my wife and I had the same questions. She finally got a new bike this spring. We were going to go with the Hawkeye for her, but when we saw that the 450 sportsman was only 500 dollars more(actually it was 475.62 more) we decided to go with the bigger bike. the quality is better and has better features for the dollars. And as I always say High/Low range is a must when working a bike. Up here in Canada, we get this stuff called snow. You need low range if you are going to do anything in the stuff. Mud is nothing compared to snow. A couple of inches will stop any bike. You must have good tires and low range if you want to play in the stuff. I think most rides would agree with me that low range is a must on a bike. Anyone who has a 4x4 truck and like to play, knows how well 4low works in the mud and for working your truck. Why then would you want anything less for you atv? Thats what I mean about staying a way from the Hawkeye, or any other atv with out low range. No low range in my thinking means trouble. Tudball.

Well, all good points and I think I have decided against the hawkeye..
But in the good ole USofA the hawkeye is listed for 4700 and the 450 is listed for 6300.
Thats $1600.. quite a difference..
But I can get a Honda Rancher 350 for 4100 in MS...
So, I think Im gonna go that way, unless I talk myself into the 500 foreman for 5200...
Thanx for the help guys and girls..
Later, Cal.
She has ridden a friends 400 and 700 sportsman on the trail and she did fine but felt they were just too big.
My wife wants to ride along and look at the flowers on the side of the trail, usually, Now she wants to ride through every water hole twice.
We had to rejet the main to 142.5 , from 147 and put the needle clip in the second pos from the bottom.
It goes like crazy and with the 4x4 and a physical size that is more her liking, she really has a good time riding with me.
The first ten minutes she was on it she told me how much she liked it and how much more confident she is on the trail.
I am keeping an eye on the frame and staying in touch with our dealer on any other problems. I knew I was taking a chance buying the first year model. I really like this quad also. Plenty of grunt and really manueverable.
That is great Hud. I love having my wife come for rides with me and the people I ride with. Just watch out that there is no low range on the Hawkeye. That is my beef with this bike. Polaris is a leader in the ATV market and droping one of their main features of a low range, makes me feel that they know are just out to make the most money they can, by offering a lesser bike to the market. I am positive that your wife will love this bike later as much as she loves it know, I know that my wife loves her 450 and is always asking when we are going riding next. Good on you for getting your wife involved in such a great pastime. tudball.

Yeah the '06s had some issues. If you ever have trouble with the frame either get a good welder to beef it up, or get the 07 rear subframe. The tabs are stronger, and I have yet to hear of any issues with it, and haven't experienced any problems myself with it. The 07s also have the different carb settings from the factory. My 07 has plenty of git'up and go, and I'm thinking of putting 25 inch tires on it. That's the only real gripe I've had is the tires at 22 inches are too short. As far as speed I haven't been able to get mine wide open where I ride, but at half throttle it's already going 35 which for a small 300 I don't see as being bad at all. My old Magnum 330 only topped out at 45. I went with the smaller bike cause I go off through the woods, and there's places I can go a Sportsman won't fit along with the $1600 cheaper price tag.
I have a 06 Hawkeye 2x4..
I'm 5'10" 190 lbs and originally bought it just for basic transportation to some gold detecting areas. Well one thing lead to another and I met many others with quads.
Yamahas, Polaris, Can Ams, etc. etc.
Well after many rides in the mountain roads, over rocks, river beds, gulley what my friends and I found out was that my 300cc 2x4 travelled every where they did just as quickly and with little trouble. It seems unless you are on a race track 40-50 mph is sufficient for my type of ridding and the price the Hawkeye is makes it also worhtwhile.
$3,500-$3,800 is about the going price here in Arizona.
Before you all start this is what I needed for a first ATV and it fits my needs very well.
Some of the other cool stuff is the independant suspension front storage, full instrumentation, 4 1/2 gal tank and I can ride about 110 miles without a fillup. The others have to carry 5 gallons with them and fill up on the way back to the trucks.
That subframe is a problem and mine is being repaired by Polaris dollar and it is out of warentee. This may become a recall as many have seen this failure.
