ATVs, Nintzel replacement, sale of Rolling Meadows on FdL County Board agenda
The Fond du Lac County Board this week will consider allowing ATVs on the Eisenbahn Trail during the winter, replacing former County Board Supervisor Jim Nintzel and listing Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for sale with Bomier Properties.
The board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Legislative Chambers of the City County Government Center, 160 S. Macy St.
ATVs on Eisenbahn
The Parks and Development Committee unanimously approved the use of ATVs on the Eisenbahn Trail during the winter months on a one-year trial basis before a packed room at its Dec. 6 meeting.
The County Board will consider the controversial recommendation for the 13-mile Fond du Lac County portion of the trail located on an abandoned railroad bed between Eden and West Bend.
If the Parks and Development Committee's recommendation is passed by the County Board, ATV riders will be allowed on the trail beginning Wednesday, Dec. 20, and ending on March 15.
During that period, they will only be allowed on the trails when temperatures fall below 28 degrees.
The County Board will also consider approving $770 in funding for the 2006-2007 Recreation Trails budget to pay for additional insurance coverage needed for ATV use on the Eisenbahn Trail.
Nintzel replacement
County Board Chair Martin Farrell has recommended former North Fond du Lac Village Board President Betty Scannel fill the unexpired term of former supervisor Jim Nintzel.
Nintzel resigned because he moved out of District 33. Nintzel was first elected to the board in April. The term expires in April 2008.
The County Board will vote on Farrell's recommendation Tuesday night.
