Identifying correct year of older Fourtrax 125

Hi. I have a Fourtrax 125 that a buddy of mine gave me, but both he and I aren't sure of the year of it. He thinks it's something along the lines of 83-85, but isn't sure which. All of the body has been removed, I think because it was all falling apart anyway. If there is a sticker somewhere else that I haven't seen that would let me know what year this ATV is, I'd really appreciate the help, or a any info about casting numbers and serial numbers and such would also help. Thanks a bunch from a first time poster.

Look at the Tenth digit on the VIN # It may be a number or letter. post what the tenth one is and i will tell you, I will have to find my paper i Use at the Yamah Dealer I work at.

Sorry for the delay. The VIN is JH3TB050XJK300015. And I found a small plaque which I must not have looked hard for that says it's an 88. But looking online, I can't find anything about an 88 TRX125. Could it be another size engine?

I found it listed under a 1988 TRX 125 model parts diagram. this should fix you right up. hope it helps.
