Minnesota DNR Conservation Officer Reports
Here are this week's reports filed by conservation officers across Northeastern Minnesota.
District 5 - Eveleth area
CO Lloyd Steen (Ray/Kabetogama) patrolled area lakes and trails by snowmobile checking fishermen. Violations for angling without a license, take illegal length walleye on experimental regulation lake, no identification on fish shelter, and failing to display registrations on ATVs and snowmobiles were handled. While patrolling he found a camo duffle bag full of ice fishing tackle in the snow and followed the ATV tracks to the ice fishermen for a successful return. CO Steen was called by the Koochiching County Sheriff’s Department to respond to a home in Littlefork where a 30-pound bobcat came through the “doggie door” of the garage in the late hours of the night and was still present. The cat had killed the homeowner’s dog. The cat was dispatched and appeared to have been starving. CO Steen also assisted police and deputies on a two car personal injury accident where extrication equipment was needed to retrieve injured persons.
