Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. won't be making Sea-Doo personal watercrafts in Juárez anymore, but will make the company's all-terrain vehicles, or ATVs, company representatives said.

This week, the BRP plant in the Bermudez industrial park will start making Can-Am Outlander ATVs. By 2008, the company will make the entire Outlander line -- engines and bodies -- in Juárez. The engines used to be made in Austria, and the ATV bodies were made in Canada. Eventually, the plants will have three shifts. The company is looking for suppliers and will be hiring.

The Sea-Doos, meanwhile, go back to being made in Canada. We will miss the delicious irony of watercraft manufactured in the desert.
