Anyone else had any problems with the lights shorting on the Kodiak 450's. Both headlights seem to have shorts where the wires go into the light sockets. Everything is sealed and I can't fix them. Anyone know about any aftermarket headlights?

I have a problem with my headlights always being out on one side or the other on my 03 kodiak 400. My riding buddies have started calling me the one light bandit because of it. I wish I knew how to fix the problem.

This seems to be a big problem with the Kodiaks. I read one place where the owner got a headlight kit from Walmart and mounted them in place of the factory lights.

That's the exact same thing mine is doing. One or the other will burn, but not both.
I'm going to look into the Wal-mart thing. I have to have my headlights, we are going to WV this spring and ride, I would hate to ride off the side of a cliff in the middle of the night.

Call around some off road shops and maybe some ATV dealers as well. They may know about this and be able to recommend a kit for you to install.
Let us know what you find, might help someone else with the same problem.

Besides the light problem in my kodiak, I have been having brake problems. The mechanic at the dealership said that was a big problem with them. Does anyone else have the same problem ?

I just got mine, 03 kodiak, but it had new brakes all the way around right before I got it. So I haven't had any problems. What specific kind of problems are you having? So I will know what to look for.

They just wear out fast. The dealer told me that I don't need new brakes already (a real ass ). I told him it's my money and not to worry if I need new pads or not (which I did). The other problem is the left brake lever never seems to work. I have tightened it and tightened it but it never works. Other than the lights and brakes it is a really good machine.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep check on them.

I see what you mean about "wearing out fast". I have had my Kodiak for about 3 months, probably ride 12-15 hours a week, always in mud, sand, water and dirt. And I just finished ordering my 3rd set of brake pads for the rear and the 2nd set for the front. And before anyone ask, no I dont' ride the brakes. Definitely a problem with the 03 Kodiaks. This time I spent the extra money and ordered the EBC severe duty pads, hopefully they will last a little longer. If anyone has any suggestions for other long life pads or any suggestions that will help with this thing not eating pads, please let me know.
Thanks

I thought it was just me, at least I know better now. Let me know how the new pads work, I might get some myself.

I figured out how to fix the lights on the Kodiak's. If anyone needs to know, just PM me and I will give you my phone number. Too much to explain on here.
