07 Grizzly 700 clutch/trans noise?

My 07 grizz has a slight knock/rattle or ping coming from the clutch area when I rev the machine up at an idle. It is also there when I take off from a stop. It's fine when I'am driving around. Anyone have any info on this. My dealer says it's normal. Warranty is up soon so i'd like someone to set my mind at ease on this. Thanks to whoever can help.

Hay bluerider660 take a look at nyroc's site and read the grizzly engine noise complaints and see what you think. This is exactly what I'm hearing. There's alot of people with the same complaint. Please check into this with yamaha if you can and please get back to me. Maybe this is normal for a yamaha? Any further info would be appreciated.

Hay Mark here's the link to the site Nyroc's ATV info website. This noise is the same on my friends 08 700 grizz as well. I hope you can find out some info on this matter. I was told it's the weights engaging in the primary clutch. It does sound bad and in the nyrocat forum one guy says he's embarrassed by the sound. Well if you heard it you would understand. I hope the link to the site works. I'm not to bright when it comes to using the computer. Please forgive any mistakes. I appreciate any info on this matter. Thanks
Jason

Jason,
I called Yamaha for you and talked to one of their Tech's. He said some noise is normal, but if it's making real loud noise you need to take it back and have them take a look at it and to check everything out. I think I have rode almost every 700 Grizzly we have ever sold and I have NEVER heard any LOUD noise like that. I even sold one to my best friend about 3 or 4 months ago and he has already put 850 miles on it an his has no loud noise. There has to be something wrong with it for it to be making that kind of sound. I talk to him for about 20 minutes about it and he said if its doing what you said and your dealer won't check it out. Take it to another and have them look at it. This is the first that i have heard about the loud noise though, so its new to me If you need anything else just let me know.

I hope this helps, Mark

Mark, thanks for checking into this matter for me. I'll try taking it to another dealer and see what they say. It's kind of crappy we only have one yamaha dealer in the city though. Thanks again I'll let you know what I find out.
