The other night my buddys and I [5 of us] headed out for a night trail ride-which was going great until my rhino cut off when we were 10miles out in the woods at 1am-no fuel to the carb, but gas tank 1/2 full. Two hours of scratching our heads-an ideal popped up. We took the fuel line off the fuel pump and attached it to the carb. next we took a portable 12volt tire inflator-attached a basket ball inflator tip and installed it in the gas tank vent hose. We turned it on-it pressurized the tank and fuel flowed to the carb. It worked!! I ran it on for 10 seconds-then off for same or it would blow the vent hose off the tank. Drove it all the way home that way! It was good to get home..Whew!!!
My new fuel pump arrived and I'm back in biz!
Sometimes you have to improvise!

I know this is not the correct format but since the thread is locked up, I'd like to ask you, Have you ever heard of a situation when you let off the gas the bike just free wheels, instead of the usual engine braking? oldatvr////bdooners@hotmail.com
Thank you..Les

Hmmm, if it was a Kawi I'd say that the electronic engine braking is acting up... but being a yammy... Idunno.
I am relatively new to the Yammy belt system... but if it's free-wheeling I'm going to assume the belt is stretched or has too much play?
To my knowledge Kawi is the only company who uses a mechanical engine braking system... all others rely on the compression of the engine to "down-shift"
You might ask Scribner... he's a bit more of a "guru" than I when it comes to the internal stuff.
Angie, So you remember Mcgiver? I've been called that a few times but could never match his tv accomplishments. It was a lucky break "rigging" the tire inflator and having it work. I was as astonished as everybody else was. Oldatvr
