James Brown, "The Godfather Of Soul", dies at age 73

James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a giant of R&B and an inspiration for rap, funk and disco, died early Christmas morning. He was 73. Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music.

I like his music, but he is no hero of mine. I think to many times famous people are projected as greater than life. How long has he been out of prison now?

I wasn't a huge fan or anything.... in fact the most I knew about him was that he was in the Tuxedo with Jackie Chan and got to tell JLH that she had a nice rack! (and that he sang "I Feel Good")

But yeah, he had a checkered past... some of his antics were "less than respectable".

Oh well, may he rest in peace.

lol, I hear ya. I guess I am just not a real sympathetic person. I don't have much compassion to people I don't know. Guess I am sort of wierd that way.
