I'm BACK!!!
Ok, so... there might be a couple of you who havn't noticed my absence the last few days (and a select few that probably didn't even miss me).
But I'm BACK!
So here's the "story of my life" series of events that happened the last few days.
First off... (Wednesday April 18, 2007) - I get a call at 7:40am
(Those of you who know me, know that a call at that time of morning is as close to a death warrant as it gets.)
Anyhow, my parent's neighbor (across the street from them) calls me and leaves a voice mail "Chuck, I'm trying to get ahold of your dad... we've had a truck come through the neighborhood.... some stuff is tore up"
THAT'S IT! end of message.... at this point I was HOPING it was a joke.
NOPE... I called him back, and he explained what happened. I jumped into yesterday's clothes.... grabbed my .45.... and headed for the truck.
(meanwhile I called mom & dad and let them know what was going on... Dad left work to meet me)
I get there and the scene is surreal.... fences are down, there's crap EVERYWHERE, and it looks as though a bulldozer has gone ballistic.
Here's the story... I'm sure you'll find it as entertaining as I did.
A guy (5 miles away from my parent's house) decided he'd steal a nice new pretty red Dodge dually... and go for a joy ride.
Anyhow... he unhooked the truck from a 3-horse trailer... and crashed through the guy's front gate (the owner of the vehicle left the keys in it).
At the first intersection he came to... he ran the stop sign and did a 'hit-and-run'... knocking a woman in her car completely off the road. (yes... she's ok)
Then he came to the next major thoroughfair closest to my parent's house... (they were re-paving it at the time) so he cut through my dad's neighbors place (driving through 3 separate fences to do it.)
Then the gas-line folks had an 8" (above ground) water line against my dad's fence.. he STOPS puts it in 4WD... and drives over the thing!
Then through my parent's 4' chain link fence
Across their back yard
Then through my parent's OTHER 4' chain link fence
Then through the neighbors yard (next door) hitting their well, and then THROUGH their front 3' fence as well!
out into the street
Through the neighbor across the street (the one that called me) and back out into the circle.. and up the road.
When the police picked up the chase he was about 5 miles away.
When the NEXT COUNTY's sherrif's dept. caught him he was nearly 25 miles away with 12 (YES I SAID 12) units chasing him.
SOoooo...
That's what the last few days have consisted of... trying to help dad fix the fence, trying to keep up at work, and trying to keep stuff done around here..... so...
I hope this was as entertaining for y'all as it was for me!!! LOL The true disappointment in all of this is that the sheriff (against my pleading and bribery) refused to bring the guy back to the scene of the crime for me and the neighbors to deal with him.
