Been seeing a little here and there in regards to lawyers trying to make money on this, and now, I am even seeing in on TV commercials.
I haven't heard any actual problems with these bikes, other than the ambulance chasers on tv though. Anybody heard about problems with these bikes as far as rollovers go? Seems like a bunch of BS to me.
dude. i've seen them roll over in vids but that was because up them going on the sides of super step hills and not doin it safely. i've seen my dad's rhino nearly roll when he was doin a dounut but other than that i've never seen them. hell dad's had the rhino in some pretty awkward situtaions but never flipped
Yeah, pretty much any bike is gonna flip when you get crazy with them. I'm just wondering what may have happened to get the lawyers all excited and targeting the Rhino specifically.
could be because there's more rhinos i think it's just crazy lawsuit garbage. on jeeps there is a warning label that they can rollover to use caution. do the rhinos have a label like this. doesn't really matter though any offroad vehicle can rollover.
It amazes me that people are allowed to sue over such things as this.
If there was a fault in the design of the Rhino, I could maybe see it, which is why I posted this. I had not heard of any specific problems with the Rhino, so I was curious if there was something causing the ambulance chasers to target this machine.
As mentioned above though, I think it is the popularity of the bike that is causing this. Until the RZR, Polaris just had the regular Ranger, which really isn't suited for crazy riding, and crazy riding is what causes the wrecks, not the bike itself.
Most of the suits I've heard of are based on people driving the rhino in an unsafe manner and losing limbs... but I have heard cases of death.
You wouldn't get in a jeep and try to do donuts in the sand, so why try it on a 1200 lb. machine without doors?
This is why Yamaha started installing half-doors on the new machines, and offering them for free to all 07 and earlier rhino's.
Gee, lets see... you're driving a machine that easily weighs 5 or 6 times what you do... and yer gonna stick your leg out to try to stop it from rolling over...
DUH...
The saddest thing is, kids pay for the adult's ignorance. Last year, a 9 year old died because he wasn't strapped in properly and the adult driving did a donut... flipped the rhino... the kid fell out... and the rhino landed on him.
Very sad... but there is no inherit danger (that I'm aware of) to the Rhino... the danger is who's sitting in the driver's seat.
There are, in fact multiple warning stickers & plates (riveted) on the machine.
They include the usual... No drivers under the age of 16.... failure to operate safely can result in injury or death....
hell whenever i'm in the rhino i always wear my seat belt or most of the time anyway. and you gotta good point the thing weights that much and has momentum in that direction what makes peolpe think it's gonna stop. thats why dad keeps the doors on.
This is the reason Yamaha has givin free doors and the safety strap for the passenger to all Rhino Owners from 2004-2007. The 08's come with the doors. Stock Rhino's are prone to falling over on their side when in off camber terrain. Passengers thru instinct have been sticking their legs out to try and catch the machine, and have been getting their legs crushed. We all tend to test the extremes of our machines from time to time, and in my opinion, the Stock Rhino rolls over on its side too easily. The center of gravity on these machines calls for a wider stance than the 54" Yamaha is giving them. I, thru wheel offsets and 1" spacers on the rear have now got a 55 1/2" wide track in the front, and a 58 1/2" track in the rear. The stability of the machine is like night and day over stock. It now is fairly difficult to get out of shape on rough and rutted terrain. If your planning to go to the rough stuff, and keep your Rhino off it's side, I suggest you widen the track.
Thanks! I haven't been tracking the issues with the Rhino, and now I see why there is so much advertising being done by the ambulance chasers specifically in regards to accidents on Rhinos.
I tell anyone who rides (If you ride it ride it harder than you can handle it,it will let you know).Thems words ya better believe, they'll make you,or brake you.I can roll anything!!!OUCH
I have rolled mine.Yeah, it was my fault. I tried to do a donut at 30 mph. It did not work! No problem, I had dors. Picked up the beer, rolled it back over, and went slowly back to riding.
I'm not proud of it but I laid my Rhino 660 on its side 3x-all of them could have been avoided. One time on a night ride in heavily overgrown area I missed being lined up with a board bridge and dropped my left tires off as I was crossing a 3 ft trench. Bummer-spilled my entire cooler of beer! What I learned was to keep a bungie over the cooler lid. Other two times were dropping a right side into soft muck raising the left wheels off the ground-Duh-needed a winch pull. Lesson? If you try hard enough you can roll any bike.
