A meeting is slated for Emsdale this Friday night in the hopes of organizing an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) club for the region.
The club, known tentatively as the Algonquin West ATV Club, will run from Sundridge to Algonquin Provincial Park if it comes together, according to Chris Ratcliffe. Members of the Ontario Federation of All-Terrain Vehicles (OFATV) will be at the meeting for the purpose of establishing the club.
“This Friday meeting will be the third we have had this month,” Ratcliffe said. “The executive of the club will be formed that night and we invite anyone who is interested to come out and see how we are going to start the club.”
Ratcliffe said the idea of starting an ATV club in the Almaguin-north Muskoka region came about after a group of business people like her were looking for a way to build up tourism in their respective areas.
She said that the club will grow its roots in the Kearney-Emsdale area, but adds that there are definite plans to branch out to Muskoka once the club gets more established.
“I know of a number of Huntsville people who are more than happy to pay their dues and come up and be able to ride with us on the trails.”
The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Emsdale Community Centre.
