This weekend was a blast. Great weather, everyone had a great time. No major injuries.
We had over 100 ATVs registered for the rally. Riding our ATVs through town was awesome. Of course a lot of people were looking at us like we were crazy. That was the first time I ever had to stop for a red light on my ATV. My wife and I went to all the checkpoints and then stopped at our favorite restraunt and had dinner. It was alot of fun. Our next event will be this fall, details to follow.

First ATV Rock n’ Roll Rally a success

Glad you had a great time 1500chief.....

Here is a news article regarding the success of the event.....

First ATV Rock n’ Roll Rally a success

By Teresa Moore/The Ironton Tribune

HANGING ROCK— They’re pleased.

Organizers of the first ever Rock n’ Roll ATV Rally said they are pleased with the response they got for their efforts to promote four-wheeling and are planning for round two of the event in the fall.

“It was excellent. We didn’t have any injuries or any incidents and everyone seemed happy,” George McCalvin, of the Hanging Rock ATV Club, said.

McCalvin said he did not yet have firm figures on how many people attended the inaugural event but he estimates the crowd to have been between 150 and 200.

“There was a bunch on the upper end of the county who came and from really over the county, from Waterloo and out that way. I heard we had a group from Zanesville but I didn’t get to speak with them,” McCalvin said. He said the heaviest turnout seemed to be for the poker run Saturday and the parade Sunday.

McCalvin said he hopes the rally also had an economic impact and that local business owners reaped some of the benefits of the rally and that visitors spent their money as well as their time here. He said there are tourism dollars that follow such activities and he hopes future editions of the Rock n’ Roll Rally will be able to draw some of those dollars to this area.

“The Hatfield and McCoy trails bring in $68 million a year. Why can’t we get some of that here?” he said.

The ATV club is planning a fall rally Oct. 19-21 which he expects to triple in size.

At a Ironton City Council Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday night, he thanked the city, the council, Mayor John Elam and Ironton Police Chief Jim Carey for the cooperation.

When Carey said he had some concerns about the vehicles not having insurance or safety lights and veering off the parade area, Elam said he would be happy to meet with the club and the chief and work out safety issues.
