ATV Charity Ride for Male Breast Cancer Awareness - Port Severn, Canada ~ April 28th Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Ladies, mark Saturday, April 28, 2007 on your calendar and take part in an incredible ATV adventure of a lifetime, raising funds and awareness for male breast cancer.
On April 28 Four Wheelin’ Women will host their seventh annual ATV Charity Ride for Male Breast Cancer Awareness in Port Severn. Yes, you read it right, male breast cancer awareness. After losing her father, Hans Sauer, to breast cancer in 1998, Nancy Ord (the founder of the Four Wheelin’ Women) wanted do something in memory of her dad. She also wanted to educate the public that breast cancer is not gender-specific, as most people seem to think.
The inaugural ride took place in Elliot Lake in 2001. Eighteen women took to the trails for a day filled with adventure and camaraderie and raised over $3,500 for the Sudbury Cancer Centre. The sixth annual event last year saw 107 participants and raised over $16,000 for the mammography unit at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Hospital.
The seventh annual event is sure to be the biggest and best to date. Team Power Sports in Waubeshene is sponsoring the fabulous luncheon at the Baxter Ward Community Centre. Driftwood Cove Marine Resort in Port Severn is the host for overnight accommodations. Don’t miss out on a guided ATV tour, thanks to the Baxter ATV Club, through the picturesque Port Severn area, on an Ontario Federation of ATV trail network (an OFATV trail permit required – special event pass available for $12).

Never been on an ATV adventure before? Grab your partner’s, neighbour’s or friend’s ATV (okay, you may have to ask them first) and come join us. Beginner riders are welcome, as organizers cater to participants of all levels of ATV operating skills. There will be helpers on site to assist with unloading and loading your machines, as well as escorts throughout the route in case their assistance is required.
