Rode one about 2 weeks ago. With the exception of the Dif lock and IRS this machine is exactly the same and the 06 bruin and 07 350 gizz. But one of the key selling points with this machine is that the standard solid rear end 350 grizz does not have the diff lock and the IRS model has the diff lock. I wish that I had one on my 06 350 Bruin. This is a solid bike and bullet proof for the beginner to intermediate rider.

I am not 100% sure on the acual motor size of the 400 big bear but I think that there is only about 30cc differance in the two bikes. So no there is not huge differance in power. I go everywhere on my 350 that all of my buddies go on their big bore machines. But if you are worried about the power step up to the 450 grizz has all the same features as the 350 grizz IRS for not much more cash.

They each have there pros and cons. But my suggestion to you is go to a Honda dealer and a yamaha dealer and ride each of them and form your own opinion. I own a 350 bruin which is the same as a 350 grizz and my neighbor owns the honda 400 AT so I have personally ridden them both

I work for Yamaha and we have sold more of these than anything this year. I guess its just the price and the features on it.

The 350 gizz is a great bike for people like me who are beginners but still want the 4x4 model. But what I have learned is that also people like me who ride alot, we quickly grow out of the stock 350 and start looking for ways to improve things like throttle reponse and power. I have had mine for 2 years and already wanting a big bore machine.

the 350 grizz is a great ride...its got the diff lock so you can get out with ease.. the only prob is no low range, but you could add a clutch kit if you wanted but ive taken mine to the headlights and came out without one

How does this compare to a big bear 400, mainly using it for hunting, some mudding, and trail riding. is automatic really better or just more to go wrong?

well i havent ever ridden a new big bear but the 350 grizzly is an awesome bike for that just no low range but as long as your not entering in mud races or just going through deep thick stuff i would stick with the grizzly 350 because there are no gears for you to shift... cvt automatic in grizzly 350 and manual clutch in big bear 400

Yes, you would be very surprized how much the IRS helps. I have the 06 model before the IRS. And OHHHHHHH how I wish I had IRS

i will agree. IRS makes a world of difference. and so dose the diff lock. persinallt i like the shifting of my big bear. sometimes i wish there was an imaginary 6th gear for some higher speeds but i love the low end power. whips the ranchers and i've found mine to go in just as many places as the rubicons and brutes. they just might get to the spot a little quicker than i do. (big bear = turtle speed)

so do your-self a favor. go with either yamaha's grizz or big bear. they both provide great advantages over the compition. not saying they are PERFECT but all over combined take the cake.

-howevre with my experiance i have noticed yamaha is. . .very overpriced, there accessories and upright price, but still you get what you pay for-
