I just want to say that I have this machine, and it is a GOOD machine. I have been in Jones' Swamp (before they shut it down ) and it went through just about anything. Given that I had to jump off and give it a push now and then...i've also taken it over some jumps and along some trails..>Great machine!
I am a former 300ex owner and I'd like to know the differance between the two. Aside from the obvious displacement. What was Honda's target group here? Is the 300ex really so much more powerful that the 250 that it's not suited for beginners?
The main difference, other than the slightly higher displacement, is that the 250ex has the "Sport Clutch" meaning it will NOT stall but still can be used, good way for beginers to learn the clucth. Also the 300ex has nicer suspension with more travel. I just bought this one for my wife and I and soon I will be getting myself the 400ex.
For my wife it is perfect, not so powerful it will intimidate her and, being a new rider with no experience with a manual clutch, she won’t be discouraged by stalling. For me it is a ton of fun and I have been able to go anywhere my dirt bike riding buddies go, but I really need more suspension and power for my size. (5’10”. 200lbs). We mainly ride desert trails, which include jumps, whoops, hill climbs and loose rocks, but also forest trails as well. I have been riding and having a blast but am looking forward to getting the 400ex for myself which will help me keep up with the bikes better. They will always be quicker but as long as I can get to the same destinations and ride the same trails I am happy. Its top speed is about 50 mph, mine is a brand new 2007 with no mods at all. From what I understand these are very reliable quads.
I was in Alabama for a visit and I was asked to go to "The Ridge". I rode my brother in-laws' 2003 Honda 250EX and had a blast. I was a little sore...but hey! Anyways, I got home Monday and by Thursday (yesterday), I had located a 2004 Honda 250EX in perfect condition for $2,200.00! I loved riding so much that I now own an atv. Now I need to know where I can ride it in Saint Louis, Missouri! Anyone? Anyone? Need Help!
