Polaris Sportsman replacement tires

Hi all,
Am in the market to replace my stock tires, keeping for the moment my original wheels.
I intend to replace them with MAXXI BIG HORNS.
I've read somewhere that they run "big". My original tire sizes are :
Front 26x8x12 Rear 26x11x12. Two questions/comments:
If the Big Horns run "big" then I presume that 25x8x12 and 25x11x12 would effectively be the mirror image replacement?
Secondly, does anyone know if 26x9x12 and 26x12x12 (additional) inch in width fit?
By eyeballing it, I would think so, but would like feedback from those who have tried either.
Additionally, I run mostly rocks, hardpan, trails and some mud...any other tires you'd recommend...I may be going over the top with the BigHorns.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have a 2000 Sportsman 500, Replaced the stock tires with
the swamp lights. I don't regret it. It's a very good all
around tire. Would recommend them to anybody.
Good Luck

Thanks for the input. That's great,,,,,,27's......will work as well.
Presumably you didn't lose much performance. Gonna go price those now...
Again, appreciate it.

I wouldn't go over 27x9x12 in the front, a buddy of mine has 27x10x12 on the front of his 400 and they rub on the inside. If you used spacers it would be fine, that dang Sportsman had an incredible amount of room under the fenders for oversized tires.
