I see in many web advertisements atv tire snow chains , yet all the pictures in the internet show riders having fun in the snow without them .

Why is that ?

Are those chains effective only on frozen asphalt roads ?

They're great on ice or snow covered ice if you're worried about traction. Bad part about them is you can't spin your tires very fast cause the chains will sling away from your tires and end up tearing up your plastics. Try to stay below say 25 mph.
