Hey there, I'm new to this forum, but I'm looking for advice, I need new tires, what do I want? I spend most of my time in swampy conditions, I mean 3 foot deep stuff, I do some bluff climbing, some regular dirt riding, not much hardpack. I have a '99 Polaris Xplorer, 400 2-stroke, K&N filter, Hotseat pipe and clutching, warn 2500 winch, 3 inch high lifter lift kit, I moved the floorboards back for clearance at the front wheels. For the past 3 yrs I've been running Dirt Devil XT's, 27x8x12 front and 27x12x10 rear, sandwiched on the stock steel rims, 12x7 4/156 bolt front and 10x8 4/4 bolt rear. Excellent traction, but they're cracking from overinflation(more air, more height), I'm thinking of going with a lighter tire, maybe lighter rim cause I've had a hard time getting good low end and I think lighter tires/ more wheel speed might help, but finding tires/wheels in these sizes at an affordable price insn't easy, Help
I'm with Scribner on this one. I run the mudbugs on my ride and I love them. And they do not pull alot of power from my ride. But still a very serious mud tire. They are also one of the lightest mud tires on the market right now.
Thanks, between weight , cost, and tread depth, I've pretty much narrowed it down to either the mud bugs or mud lite xtrs, now i"m debating 26" or 27" 'cause of weight, outlaws are supposed to be best, but seem to weigh lots and cost more
Outlaws are the best IMO hands down.I have always ran 29.5's on everything I own,but like you said,they are heavy and cost an arm and a leg.
I would stick with the mudbugs personally.They pull good,ride good and weigh less than the xtr's from what I have heard.
If you wanted the extra little ground clearance from the 27,you could always gear down on your sprockets to make up some of the bottom end.Atleast I think your bike is chain driven.
chain rear, shaft front, can't change sprockets or I'd blow tranny, but between a 26" and 27" you're only talking a half inch difference in clearance right? 1" tire difference is a half inch on the bottom (gives clearance) and a half inch on top(does nothing)
that is correct. Mudlites are a great choice and a very light mud tire, go for the xl's though for a deeper tread. Mudbugs are also a great choice and they say it louder if you want people to notice!
well I ordered the Mud Bugs, 27x10x12 front, and 27x12x12 rear with ITP C series type 5 wheels, should average 10lbs per wheel savings I figure. Waiting for them to show up to try out

got the new tires, had to go with ITP SS108 rims, all I could find in stock, great looking, guaranteed for life, but more expensive-love the mud bugs I'm running pre-mix, plus oil injection right now, cause I just rebuilt the motor, as soon as I burn that out I can fine tune the jetting and clutching and I'll let you know how they turn out will post pics when time allows, thanks for the advice

I have mudlite XL's now they ok was looking for maybe a radial most my riding is trail / and mud. some reason if its a mud hole I am in it.
I run 26" swamp fox on stock grizzly wheels. I went back to stock wheels since they don't have as much offset and helps keep me a little cleaner. The beads are better too. Swamp foxes are awesome in mud. They bite good and clean good. 2 weekends ago I was going thru holes that a couple bikes had trouble with and one was on 27's, the other on 30's. These tires are good all around, but a little rough on trails. I like the terra cross for trails and rocky stuff.
