Has anyone else heard of this tire made by super grip? it looks like the mudlite, exactly like the mudlite but supposedly tougher and has a built in rim guard for more protection. they make the same sizes and same tread depth. but i have yet been able to find weight.
i was wounderin if anyone else has heard of this tire and what do they think. do ya'll think it is just a copy from another tire company to ITP's mudlite or is actually different and more durable. theres a link down below
I had a set of 26" on a Honda Foreman, and then put them on a Suzki Kingquad. I really liked them and have nothing but good things to say about them. After having them on 2 machines and about 800 miles on them, I took them off and sold them for $150.00. Not bad since I only paid $240.00 new for them on Ebay. There was about 3/4 tread left after 800 miles, and I was hard on them. The only reason I got rid of them was I wanted a set of ITP Holeshot Radials. Here is a good pic of them on my Foreman.
from what i've been lookin at online these are prob the tires i am going to get. i like the mudlite tread pattern. i mean if you look at it, it is rather smart and lots of traction, digs in the muck and pulls.
also i've been to super grips web site and if what i read is correct they got some kind of automatic sealin inside the tire's shell that automatical seals it's self for holes that are upto 1/4" think. also they are said to be lighter than mudlites
now i am just tryin to find the weight. i don't want to but my size tire and find it is 25lbs in the front and 30 lbs in the rear.
the size i am going to buy is 25-8-12 front/ 25-10-12 real XL lugs. i'm tryin not to go over 23 lbs in the front if possible. and 26 lbs in the rear. thats why i've been lookin at mudbugs and zillas as well as ITP's mudlites. light weight with large tread and durability. understand what i'm sayin?
I have them on my Brute 650i Now and love them.....I have had them for a few months now. I love the Super Grip tires and after these i will be goign to the Mud Bitch for the type of riding i do. If interested in seeing my set up u can look here. BRUTE CENTRAL FORUMS -> Scoobs's Brute Force 650i
Sorry for linking to another site, but this is a direct link to my Brute.
Hope it helps. BTW from when i was researching tires, the super lights are lighter then then the mud lites, same tread pattern and a rim Guard the mud lites do NOT have. I run mine currently at 6psi do to the water riding i been doing to keep my front end up, for heavy mud and rock crawling i go to about 3PSI all theway around. i am riding on 27x10x12's on all 4's.
I wonder how they get away with an exact copy without infringing on ITP's copyrights? And normally tougher=heavier I'd be interested in seeing how they back that up. How is the price compared to the mudlites? Mudlites suck when it comes to treadlife.
fishmstr i agree. normally tougher is heavier. now i wouldn't mind a heavier tire as long as it ain't over weight. i looked at the mudlite XLs for the 25 " tire just around 20 lbs so if these superlites aren't lighter or equal weight i'll just go with the mudlites. i also found aplace were i can buy superlites for under $300 so either way it will be Mudlite Xls or Superlite Xls
but then again the superlite have a rim guard. now to be honest i don't really understand this rim guard. would someone inform me on exactly what it dose or how it works? and dose this make it hard to mount on stock rims?

The rim guard is where the rubber of the tire has a lip that extends passed your rim so on rocks, trees, limbs etc. instead of ur rim rubbing against them the lip of the tire will. The rib guard is a solid lip of rubber, that does NOT affect the tire, so if something rubs against it, pushes on it, and sticks into it i does not directly affect the tire. However, with that being said if a thorn or large size punctioned the rib guard to say, it could indeed go in further enough to put a whole in the tire but i'd say a 1 in 500k chance of that happening.
As for tougher then the mudlites i beleive they are the exact same, 6ply, both have solid lugs (excet the top of lugs are grooved). I was lookign a couldnt find the actually weight of them.
My set was $300 for 4-27x10x12. I dont know what the price for 27 mudlites are.
yeah that sounds right price for the superlites. mudlites are about 30-40 bucks more. and like you've said i can't find the weight. thats what makes the superlite a little shady. but i guess with time it will come out
Hey Cotton I had a set of 26" 589s on my 08 Bear this weekend and wow I dont think Ill go back to 25s except for winter because my tire chains are set up for my stock mudlites so I can plow with it.I have a new set that of 589s on the way, they should be here Monday.Regardless of what tire you go with a 26" improve the machine. To me I seemed to get more out of every gear, I lost that 2nd to 3rd gear bog in tricky situations , it handled great too. It would be great if you could try some 26s on your bear before you order a set so you could see for yourself what the difference is.I was very suprised with what that 1 " difference made.I'm not pushing the 589s on you ,just a 26" tire cause the bears are geared so low.
i'm told by alot that it helps but i'm also figurin that if i stay with the 25's i would be able to keep that superlow 1st. i mean that gear has saved my but in the most god awful, mucky, smelly swamp mud. and if i go with a bigger tire that mean more horsepower to turn that extra inch. it dosen't seem like much but neither dose 2 inches. now granted that dosen't mean i will be as less powerful as a rancher but i'll be able to turn my 25s threw a muck hole eaiser than a 26" tire. and like before the bigger the tire the heavier.
if i go with a larger tire i might go with the zillas. light weight and large tread. or possibly stay with the mudlites and get the xls. i would also like to try out the superlites. alot of figurein to do but like i've said before i ain't in no money situation to be buyin new tires when mine still look brand new. and mine ar doin fine. but don't get me wrong, i would like a larger tire for the extra ground clearance and the bigger tread that tends to come with the bigger tires. pros and cons.
i hear alot of ppl bashin AT mudlites but i'll tell ya i've been threw the county's best powerlines and been threw with the mules, rhinos, polaris's, the brutes, and the grizzs. i just don't go hip high water boggin like everyone else seems to love.
but yeah i would like to try a set of 26s...too bad ppl just don't lend out tires like free candy. lol
I've got 25" Mudlite AT's on my Rancher right now, they have been relegated to driving around the neighborhood. I put on 26" Mudgears and now go through stuff in 2x4 that I would have gotten stuck in 4x4 with the AT's. Trust me when I got the AT's I thought those wer all I needed till I got some real tires. It is a completely different machine now. Of course if the money isn't there then the money isn't there, I was able to use a little from my tax return to get mine. Let me say thank you to my wife.
hell thats what everyone tells me. hate to see what happens when i do..don't know if anything can stop it....lol
did some more reasearch on the zillas...prob with go with them. light weight. big tread, exta inch on the tire and there maxxis. can't go wrong with that and there 6 ply....i think that is my final dicisioun..but it'll be awhile
hey cottonmouth go with atleast 26" you won't regret it IMO. my mud bugs are lighter than the stock 25" that maybe why i noticed no power loss, i bet the zilla's are the same way.
like i said i'll prob go with the zillas....but as of right now i have some spending money. and b-day gifts .between my extra savings...and money from my grandparents down in Florida and my mom wantin to do a little somethin special as well as my dad i got alot of new neat items.
1. 3000 lbs gorilla winch. waterproof (supposibly) and all the mounting hardware.
came from dad
2.tire repair kit and slime
my aunt and step mom
3. and $200 form my mom and grandparetns from Fl
this was a very special b-day and my mom actually was able to come up and see me. before thanksgiving of last year i haden't seen her in a year. i've seen her 3 times since and i really enjoyed seeing her. but anyways. i got a new winch and i am looking into a skidplate package for BB. mayb by the end of the year i'll look into a christmas present for myself in tires. or who knows i mite get a raise or something mite happen. but for right now i am looking into full undercarriage protection and getting my winch installed.
thats exactly what i was lookin at....but mines are gonna cost somewere around $350-$380. but hell considering all the safety i'm gettin for it. and not to mention under my engine all it had is three fram bars. i've gotten hooked up on a narrown stump one time that was somehow concealed underthe mud. well needless to say i couldn't move and that was when i considered buyin undercarrage protection. and lately i have been pulling out "stumps and sticks" from my A-arms. which amazes me how something that big fit inthere without tearing something up. if i get that set i should be good and it'll help me glid over stuff easier without having to worry about my differentials, drive shafts, ect. but i was woundering is there any other brands that happen to have slightly thicker aluminum or is 3/16 just about as big as it is going to get? and do you have any rips or tears in yours?
so would you agree in under carriage protection or mud tires....even though i have a 3 month old pair that performs great (pretty obvious answer). i think the skidplates and stick gaurds would be wiser..what about ya'll?

yep, they might save your cv boots, axles, diffs, or possible engine case damage.
well with the gas prices going threw the roof and my last payment. i'm gonna have to wait a little while longer. i have plenty of money but i don't want to go below 600 in my savings right now. i'll wait till summer then look into it
