Question How many of you have.....

participated in any kind of "trail program" whether it's writing to "higher be's" requesting funds for expansion, clean-up, improvements etc...... or just cleaning up the trails that you currently ride on now? Maybe made some improvements of your own for the owner(s) of the land....basically anything to "help out".

Did the program have a name?
Or were you just doing your part for the sport/hobby?
Or was it just a group of friends that pitch in on a Saturday or at the end of a ride?

WELL WE HAVE DONE ALOT OF IMPROVEMENTS ON OUR LEASE, ALL OVER THE PLACE. WE HAVE THE MAIN CAMP, WHICH IS MORE LIKE A HOUSE. WE HAVE PUT IN A JET SEPTIC SYSTEM, NOT BY CHOICE THOUGH, COUNTY MADE US DO IT, MANY RV SPOTS THE MEMBER USE. BUILT ROADS, TRAILS, BRIDGES, DEER STANDS, ETC... SOME WILL GO IF WE LOOSE THE LEASE, BUT THE MAJORITY OF IT IS THERE TO STAY. WE DO IT BECAUSE IT BENEFITS ALL PARTIES INVOLVED. WE HAVE GONE AND BUILT NEW FENCING AND CLEARED THE LAND OWNERS FENCE ROWS WHEN ASKED, MOSTLY OUT OF COURTESY. NOT THAT WE HAVE TO DO ANY OF THIS BUT BECAUSE WE WANT TO.

About as far as I have gone is to re-opend some closed trails due fallen trees and wash outs after a storm.

When ever we go riden. We always keep material in one spot to pick up on the way back, and pick up other stuff as well. But keep in mind, most of my riden is at night

Yep "Pacific Trail Riders" They work with ODF (Oregon Department of forestry) to build new trails, maintain old trails, build camp sites, and build access roads.

When ever we ride, ( I always carry my "butter Knife") I stop an clear thorn bushes and face slappers from all trails. I always check with area managers to ensure it is ok to do this. But I have never been asked not to. And we all know what a thorn bush can do to a face or bare arm/leg.We carry trash bags, and when we can we pick up trash and cans on the trails.

I picked up a beer can once. LOL

We don't have any kind of trail maintenance program around here that I know of. Although the last time I stayed at Camp Wolf Creek Springs, I borrowed a pair of tree pruners from the owners, Bill and Kelli, and spent about 2 hours clearing the trail on their property for the kids to ride.
