Officers with the Kaladar OPP, assisted by officers with the OPP East Region S.A.V.E. (Snowmobile, ATV, Vessel, Enforcement) Unit will be increasing their ATV patrol and enforcement in the Kaladar area following recent fatalities. On May 9, a 45 year-old Madoc man lost control of his ATV on the Trans Canada Trail near Kaladar for an unknown reason. The man was thrown from the ATV and died. On May 31, a 37 year-old Flinton area man died while riding his ATV after he failed to negotiate a turn on the 5th Concession Road in Addington Highlands Township. The man was thrown from his ATV into the Skootamatta River. Alcohol and speed are believed to be contributing factors in this fatality. And last weekend, a 34-year-old Roblin man was killed in a similar incident. Officers will be ensuring riders are wearing proper helmets and that they are securely fastened. Speed limits will be strictly enforced and drivers will also be checked for alcohol consumption. Operators should be prepared to produce a valid ownership and insurance card for their ATV.

We all kid about drinking, beer, and "hold my beer, watch this" but all in all, very few if any of this group are known for driving drunk and stupid..Maybe drunk and maybe stupid. but never both..... at the same time.. Besides. I hold my own beer.. | |
