Kids' Christmas Presents (ATV's) Stolen From Back Yard
December 14, 2006
BELLEVIEW, Fla. -- When kids ask for one special Christmas gift, most parents will work overtime if that's what it takes to get it.
That's what happened in the case of a Marion County father who saved for two years for his two boys' early Christmas presents, WESH 2 News reported.
"The ATVs were purchased for my two boys. They are 13 and 11 years old. This was their only Christmas present this year. Please help," Keith Gaouette wrote on a poster that he has hung copies of all around Marion County.
He bought the all-terrain vehicles for his sons Kyle and Kevin, and the ATVs were stolen from the family's back yard in Belleview last Sunday night.
"I've finally been able to give them what they have been asking for for two years now. They've been asking for these four-wheelers, and I finally had the money to give them to them," Keith Gaouette said.
The boys had a choice -- two ATVs and that's it or a lot of small stuff under the tree.
"My dad worked as hard as he could to get them for us, and it's just wrong that somebody wants to come and steal them from us," Kyle said.
"I would rather somebody had stole from me than to take from my kids," Gaouette said.
He said the thieves had turned his adult ATV all the way around and were ready to head out back with it, but for some reason, they didn't take it.
The children have their thoughts on thieves.
"Jesus or God would not do this. The only person who would make someone upset and make money off this would be the devil," Kyle said.
"I hope that they return the four-wheelers and find a better lifestyle. Get a job. Do some hard work and see how it is to get something stolen," Kevin said.
