I may be wrong, but I am thinking some helmets are made with communications capabilities. If I am wrong, I may have just invented a new get rich quick scheme. | | | | Apr 29th, 06, 10:25 PM | | 95% broke , 5% mud Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: kilgore ,texs

| I'm talking about a headset that either wraps around your head, kinda like a walkie talkie, but on your head...
Inside a helmet would be good also, however I usually don't wear one...(no safety bashing please...LOL) | | | | Apr 29th, 06, 11:12 PM | | 95% broke , 5% mud Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: kilgore ,texs

| Most wireless intercom systems designed for motorcycle/atv use are designed into a helmet.... while a headset for use without a helmet would be great for some applications... it would be susceptable to dust/rain/mud/sweat and other harmful elements making it hard to design and be sturdy/resilient enough to withstand the elements.
If you are interested in such a thing... Motorola markets many hand-held "walkie-talkie" type units of varying ranges that offer belt clips and a plug for an optional headset... allowing the rider to clip the unit on his/her belt and receive radio messages, however if the rider intends to send a radio message it would require them to reach down and hit the "talk" button.
Ride Safe,

| Rebecca is not allowed to have a communication device that will allow her to talk while riding. The trees are unsafe enough as it is, and I dont want the matching helmet to listen to here babble. | | | | Apr 29th, 06, 11:52 PM | | Almighty Supercook Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Key West

| Mudtramp, as a woman, your fellow riders (be they male) should be able to hear your voice no problem. Weather or not they pay attention is another matter. HEE HEE HEE... | | | | Nov 23rd, 06, 04:34 PM | | Julie Join Date: May 2006 Location: Belmont Ohio

| The walkie talkies do have a VOX (starts transmitting when you start talking) if you plug in the headset. Not sure how it'll work over the noise of the engine and wind though. | | | | Nov 28th, 06, 10:13 PM | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2006

| HEY ALL!, chatterbox makes a headset that adapts to any helmet, I've used them for years, they work well, never had a problem, not to sure on range (never paid attn!!!) it's been a few years since I used them so I'm sure they have more options and models??? and they also have a sensitivity adjustment so the vox does'nt trip at every sound! They will run you about $200 each. | | | | Nov 29th, 06, 07:58 PM | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2006
