Cannot go muddin with my 2007 450 Yamaha Grizzly ATV?
I just got my new 450 ATV and have only taken it out muddin a couple of times..This last time I got into some deep water, but not over the handle bars.. Because it would not shift into a higher gear after that, I had to take it into the shop....$260.00 later, I found out that the belt was ruined and "huge" amounts of mud had gotten into the fly wheel...Has any body had this problem...SHOULD I HAVE GOTTEN A HONDA?>???

Reason: left out a word
I had that problem with my 660 grizzly but after I took the clutch apart I discovered that mud that got into the factory snorkel and got into the primary clutch, It packed the weights inside it so it wouldn't shift up. I've had mine in serious stuff and still haven't fried the belt I have had to drain the case quite often though. sounds like somebody at the shop got paid quite well for no more work than it is to clean it yourself. sounds like a bad deal, but I wouldn't be scared to pile off into anything with mine.
No, you shouldn't have got a Honda. You shoulda known where your stock snorkels are so you don't suck any more stuff that's not air into them. Remember, if it's stock, and the water/mud is at the bottom of the handle bars, it's to late. You've already sucked all that dirty crap into parts of your very expensive machine that only like nice clean air, oil, or fuel, not mud and water.
right on. my grizz goes lots of places. More places soon, but you have to be careful. and no you shouldnt have bought a honda. just watch the level of goop around your airbox.
Hondas aren't all bad!!! I have a 250ex sport (yes, I'm a girl) and I take in Jone's Swamp here in Pensacola every weekend! Of course, I'm up to my thighs in water/mud, but it hasn't died yet!!!
Ride On!
I know, whats with the bashin on Hondas!? They run FOREVER and frankly theyre AWSOME! Ive ridden hondas (both utility and sport) since I was like 9 and have never had any major issues with them. And frankly, other than a Can-Am, I dont think I would ever consider buying anything different.
Im not putting other peoples quads down....thats just my opinion
