Polaris Sportsman 500 mods

Well im new to this and am looking for some help. I have been riding dirt bikes for most of my life, so I could use some help. I bought a 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. and I know that most of these come from the factory pretty watered down (performance wise). So I was wondering what kind of engine modificatgions I can do to get the most out of this four wheeler, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Don't mod just yet

I've got a '07 sportsman 500 efi and it's got alot of testosterone. My advice is to get use to your bike first prior to modifying it. Polaris tend to be heavier than the other brands and drive like a tank but can get up and move when need be; so the combo of the two requires some man-handling at first till you are use to it. There are some aftermarket products so do your research first.

I also own a polaris sportsman 500 HO 4 wheel drive and it has plenty of balls! Just like swampwater says, yeah they can sometimes drive like a tank but can get up and go when need be. if you wanted performance, maybe you should have bought a raptor/

See you on the trial....

I think I was misunderstood in my first post, I dont have any problems with the power of the 500. That is why I bought it over several other models. My wife is the one who mainly rides this. I am not looking for a high performance 2 wheel drive machine like the raptor. I love to tinker and enjoy aftermarket modifications, so the question was; Are there any modifications out there to increase the motor performance? There are a lot of body type mods availiable and I have had no problem finding them and making a want list. But I am having a hard time finding any of those.

Exclamation

I think you should tinker with the Air filter first.
Don't go overboard like everybody said. Try
putting a K&N air filter in it and see if you get any
performance increase out of it first. It would
be inexpensive and let you tinker.

re: Polaris Sportsman 500 mod

Sorry for the misunderstanding Ralpmath. I too have been curious as to what's out there and so far I've come across everything BUT engine performance upgrades for the 500 - that doesn't mean they aren't out there.
