I have a very bad smoking problem with my four wheeler

My honda foreman 400 smokes like a freight train when i crank it we put oil in it and it just burns it. the tail pipe has oil coming out of it are there any suggestions on what the problem might be? Its a real white smoke that will cover up the whole yard in about 5 seconds.

time for a rebuild, re-ring (maybe piston and bore), go through the head with seals and lapping valves. make sure to check clearances and get it right.

ya know. i'm pretty good with mechanics but as in for taken the tranny or engine apart as well as the rear end. i'd just rather the real mechanics do it right and proper. cause if they screw somethin up they fix it. if i screw somethin up, i pay for it. not to mention if your warranty is still good it mite be somethin they can cover

depending on how bad things are (if it needs bored out, new final drive and/or axle) you could be looking at close to $1000 in parts alone and probably another $400-$500 labor (depending on the shop, could be more or less). depending on the year of the machine it will be getting close to the book value. if everything checks out ok and can get by with a axle and overhaul you might be looking at around $700 total. just never know until everything gets tore apart and checked out.

i guess that is why i treat my stuff like a baby. if i ride it hard all weekend i'll change the oil. i change the rear end oil every year. i don't sink it in mud, or creeks. yea, i am a wuss, but my 99 model doesn't use oil, and runs like a top, and the brakes are original. next week it will probably sling a rod or rear end gear.

that's probably why i treat mine like sh!t. I'm the shop foreman/salesman working on buying the dealership and i want to know where every weak point is so i can sell the customer quality for what he/she is using it for.
