07 big bear

07 big bear 4x4 exp edition

how would i go about adjusting the rear shocks on irs 07 big bear?? i see that it the bottom adjustment turns to tighten up spring, what tool is used for this and any more useful info concerning the above question would be appreciated. at times i take my lady riding with me and the rear suspension seems a little to soft with two people, niether one of us wiegh a lot, should not need much adjustment. i am assuming that the adjustment shoud help, not actually sure. it is extremly comfortable, but doesn't perform as a would prefer w/two people on it, also 1 person on some hills, feels kind of scary...may just take getting used to. over all, just a lil soft, on about 2nd notch from the bottom. thanks

The wrench to adjust it is called a spanner wrench, some bikes come with it in the factory tool kit and some dont.If you dont have one you can use a big pair of pliers and turn the springs up,just dont grip the collar to hard.Take a jack and lift the bike up all the way so there is no load on the springs and adjust them like that.

When you tighten up the spring,it will make the suspension stiffer and wont let the bike sag near as bad.If you are riding 2up on it,then you might want to tighten them so it wont be so tipsy and it will be easier to control also. You will also gain a bit of ground clearance at the same time.

i don't know about irs, but on my dirtbikes i would adjust up 1 or down 1 from the factory setting and it made a big difference, so i would say just move it up 1 and see

You can turn them all the way up and take a wrench with you to adjust to your liking. That is what I do when I ride,I adjust on the trail

Exclamation

bigdaddynate, hit a great hole today, made it through with my locker, but my bike likes to spit and sputter when in deep water(up to seat today). most of my wires are marine sealed from the factory, can't really figure where im taking on water. have you had this prob. with your yamaha?? i proudly made it through the hole no one else could go through, but it almost died on me for a few seconds...also happens when 1st splash through not so deep water..
