causing grinding noise when riding. ( "I know" stupid question and so obvious, i hate to ask ) I am mechanicaly inclined but don't do it
everyday.
Smart ass reply's welcome if they really fix this problem.

Well, no one has replied yet so I'll give this a go. I am a new ATV rider myself but I work on cars a lot so just take my advice as maby a direction to start looking till someone who actually knows about ATV braking systems responds.
On a car I think I would first check the rotor and pads. Is the rotor warped or bent? Is there any material left on the pads or is it metal to metal? Your back there and you most probably have the caliper in your hands, can you compress it back into the cylinder (Remove the cap to the Master Cylinder first)? Is it leaking break fluid? Lastly, check the Master Cylinder. On a Polaris the reservoir is the little black plastic thing mounted on your handlebars. Is it low (or worse, out)? Is the color black? Follow the break line back, is it bent or kinked?
This is the way I would proceed if it was me. Just a direction to go until someone who knows about ATV breaking systems responds.
Hope this helps

Mud Slinger, Thanks for the reply and places to start.
3 month old pads with no gap between rotor. older rotor, has some
groving but doesn't feel to bad. I'l start from the top
and work my way down.
Thanks again

there's also a rear master cylinder on your bike as well. It should be located in front of the right rear tire on the frame near the pull start.
