Polaris Problem

My buddy owns a 99 sportsman 500, and it will not stay in the forward gear, it will stay in reverse all day long, but as soon as he puts it forward (high) and starts moving it will pop out. I know there is some adjustment on the rods that connect the shifter to the transmission, but if they were out of adjustment wouldn't all the gears mess up.

Not all the time.The adjustment could be favoring reverse and that will keep in it that gear better.Try adjusting the linkage for it and see what happens.It wont take much so dont adjust alot starting out.
