| slight loss in power more recently i've noticed a slight power loss in my BB. like i can no longer get to 42 quite as easily and can no longer reach my original to speed of 47. i've also noticed i'm havin to give it a little more gas to get it to go in muddier and hiller situations. nothing majorly mechanical i do beleive but i was wounder if there is anything i may have missed in matenance
i've cleaned and blown out air filter but my sponge element that covers my filter is pretty darn dirty. tried cleanin it but it just wont come clean (think im gonna have to use a solvent). oil is full and clean, tire pressure is good. is there anything else i mite have over looked that could be causeing this loss in power?
but other than the loss the BB runs fine |

Don't mean this in a smart @$$ way...are you sure your just not getting use to the power. After I ride one for a while I always get use to it and think it loses it as well. |

| Adjust the valves. You would be suprised how much performance is affected by a simple valve adjustment. I have two buddies that have Big Bears that had me adjust the valves on their's for the first time and there was a very noticible difference in performance. |

| ya know i was thinkin but that. i mean my vaulves are tappin like i've said before. hmm that mite be it. at the end of school i did plan on takin my BB into the shop and havin them readjust them and check to see if anything else mite be out of place or needs more adjustin
i don't think my spark plug mite have gone bad already but if nothing else works i'll take a closer look at that
reoil? umm not tryin to sound stupid but..what dose that mean, how do i do that, and what dose it require require? and also my prefilter is down right filthy dose that need to be reoiled as well? i've cleaned it with a hose and air compressor.
and hell it mite be that it is all in my head, but still it dose seem to have lost a little power especially tonight. i had it topped out in my normal streach just to see if it was all in my head. stil down about 5-7 mph |

| What re-oil is about, is if you grab your airfilter and look at your hand, it will be greasy. They charge or spray the airfilter when they are new. There is a spray that you can by at any local ATV dealer that you spray on your filter and it is to help keep dirt, dust, moisture, and minimul water from getting into the carb. I've cleaned mine out with gas and then re-oiled mine with the spray. Just follow the directions on the can.
One more thing to check for slight power loss. I have a Honda and on the bottom of the exhaust is a bolt/screw... whatever. Its a blowout that should be done every so often. Remove the screw and hold your hand or rag would be better over the end of the exhaust and then have someone give it some throttle. It is suppost to blow dirt, carbon and junk out that can build out in there and not let the exhaust flow properly. Not sure if any other brands of atv's have this but honda does.
Good luck |

| What i'm saying is IF you clean you air filter or bliw it out make sure you re-oil it. I work for Yamaha and i have seen people come in buy a new OEM air filter and not oil it...just put it in. You HAVE TO Oil all Foam filters. |

| ok, i'll need to get some of this oil. you said i can get it any local dealer? i ain't gonna go all the way to beufort when i can go down the road to the arctic cat dealer. also how do i get the foam filter clean. i've hoses it, blown it,etc. except use a solvent. i ain't got none. whould the solvent work.
i beleive if i am not mistaken that is the "spark arrestor" correct my spelling or correct me if i am wrong. i didn't think bout that. that would make lots of sense. less resistance with the air flow moves the air in and out alot smoother. hense more power. thanks
ohh by the way i was thinkin bout gettin a new air filter anyway before any of this was noticed. i've preety much made up my mind to get the K&N filter. so when i go to get that i'll get the oil and K&N prefilter as well. dont get me wrong i blow out my filter regularly it's just i didn't do the whole proceedure. woops. i'll keep ontop of this better |

Yes, Arctic Cat should have what you need.
FROM EXPERIANCE DO NOT GET THE K&N FILTER. Get a Uni or Twin Air. THe K&N lets too much dust through even wiht an outer wear. I have seen about 3 first hand that had to be rebuilt cause of this. If you don't ride in Dusty conditions you might be OK. |

| hmm. that would make some sense. seeing as how they amp up power. less resitiction in air flow, less it filters out. but, i ride mainly woods and mud. the only situations it gets dusty is if im followin a couple of pople on a beatin dusty trail. i was told bout that, but i haven't look inot the other. i'll look into those other brands i went and bought cleaners and oils for the filter so im good. dude i was amazed when i put that stuff on. my foam filter was preety dark, but the stuff comin off was just plain black. now the foam looks about brand new. i also cleaned out that bolt ya was talkin bout. haven't ridin yet. gonna see if it all helps |
