Question

I look at the back of my 2001 SP500, all I see is the one yellow dipstick. It looks like the rear diff and tranny is all in one unit to me. When I do a search online it seem the rear diff and tranny take two different fluids. Whats fluid does the Yellow dip stick check, the rear diff or tranny? and how do you check the remaining one?

I found out the rear diff and tranny share the same case on the Sportsman but I have no manual and Im not sure what type of fliud goes in the back end.

The front diff uses 75w90 gear oil but with the back sharing the tranny ,I dont know that one.

I checked the polaris site, but they dont have a complete owners manual for a 2001. The fluids are completely different than my 2004 so I'm not sure what yours would use.

You might try calling the dealer and get the service department to let you know. Here is the website for one that I think is close to you.
