Hello all, I need to get some ideas/suggestions about the perfoemance of Honda 500 Rubicon with 7.5" ground clearance in snowy environment. I'm planning to buy one of these ATVs for use in our property located in Colorado mountains. Is 7.5" ground clearance good enough. I'm also planning to install a plow too. Thnaks for any advice
I use my 2007 Rubicon for snow removal and have absolutely no problem witth 12" drifts. If it gets a build up behind the blade you may need to take a couple passees at it but it's all good!
with a good set of tires you'll be fine (26 or 27 will givea little more clearance) before i put my big tires on on could go almost anywhere with the 26 mudlites
I take it in sections and have not had a problem. I have had to hook up and get yanked out by my 4X4 a couple times when I got too ambitious but on the whole it really plows massive amounts of snow quite handilly!
The Rubicon is a very capable machine, but if I lived in the Colorado Mtns ( a place thats capable to get 24" snowfalls in 8 hrs.) I would definately consider the Arctic Cat 650. It has 12" ground clearance which means alot in deep snow. These ATV's dont want to go when snow piles up under them, 700 pounds of weight will get you better traction, and the 650 motor with Diff. lock will provide the traction and power to push large amounts of heavy snow. Thats just my opinion, and I'm not an Arctic Cat guy. I used to own their Snowmobiles, but never one of their ATV's.

I agree with the front diff lock. In that cold weather and high elavations you might want to consider a ATV with Fuel Injecton. and snow plowing you might want front diff lock. I know i would.
well i guess i just thought that, cause the 675cc rincon had FI and the 420cc had FI then the 499cc had to be FI- kindo crazy that it's not, i think that anything over 300cc should be injected. IMO
have you though about a diff lock but small atv. meaning lighter, like a grizz. i'm partail to BB but the BB only goes to a 400 grizz gets up to a 700 and all the features of a BB and Artic Cat. it also is FI and power steering PLUS it's alot lighter
