JCBDarkNight Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Posts: 1	Yamaha Kodiak Oil Filter Hello, I went out and bought a new oil filter for my 2003 4x4 Yamaha Kodiak today. I have been trying for most of the day to get the oil filter off but I cannot seem to get enough torque on it. I don't want to have to remove the air filter and box to get down to it...any suggestions as to how to remove it? Thanks

I went through a similar issue on my Polaris, absolutely not way to get any leverage to speak of on the filter. Finally got it loose after much fighting and cussing, and made sure and lubed the seal up really well on the new filters after that.

Wheelaway Motorsports Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Fulton NY Posts: 71	The proper cup wrench works best. heres another tip, When you do get it off, replace it with a K&n filter. They come with a nut made into the end so you can use a wrench!

Wheelaway Motorsports Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Fulton NY Posts: 71	one more note. It is normal for it to turn somewhat hard as the o ring tries to stay on the engine block. Make sure the old o ring is off before installing new filter.
