Question for the experts!!

I almost sunk my ATV in the river today. The water never quite came over the intake, I don't think, but there is water in the breather box. After I got it out, I hung it up a tree and a bunch of water came out of the exhaust pipe, drained the tranny and checked the oil, which there wasn't any water in. And I dried the airbox. Is there anything else I need to do or should it be ok??

After you put oil back in it,crank it up and let it idle for a few minutes. If there was water in the airbox its possible that it might have got in the motor also. You might have to drain your carb also. After you let idle for a few, check your oil again to make sure it isnt milky. If it is then you will need to change it a few times to get all the water out.You can use just cheap oil to flush it then after you get it all out you can out good oil back in it.After you get it running drive it around for a bit and then check your diff's for water also.If you dont drive it and there is water in there you wont see it cause it wont be mixed in with the oil yet. After all this you should be good to go.

I did everything you said and got it back to running. It actually seems to be running better than before. Thanks for the advice.
