warn winch burnout

my winch got smoked today . its made by warn for polaris. its only just over a month old. it will let out cable but it wont retract it . took it to the dealer today its under warranty so hopefully its not gonna cost me to fix it. i would try and fix it but i would void the warranty . any body else had this problem . what did you do to fix it

Haven't had this problem with our Polaris's.
But if you would, keep us posted on what the dealer does to fix it

Had a buddy that burned up his Superwinch, took it to a local business that rebuilds electric motors.. they put heavier winding in it and it's as good as new.

You can also send the winch directly back to WARN and they'll perform the service for you.

A winch is a brush type motor being that since it runs one way,it will run the other way unless your contactor isnt making.There isnt seperate windings in the motor for directions,the switch changes polarity and that chanegs directions.If you put a heavy load on it,it could have burned up one of your contactors in your relay.

i was pushing the snowbanks back. so thats probably what happened. it makes a clicking sound but doesnt do anything

check to see if its got 12v at motor terminals when switch is activated both ways if it does then your brushes have lost contact with armature if it dont contactor is bad
