LOST MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE POLARIS SPORTSMAN 600

hey guys we got clobbered here in wisconsin my some heavy snow so i was out plowing and lost the four wheel drive the front tires seemed locked up so i rocked it back and forth slowly untill it was free like somthing was hung up then no four wheel drive so i tested the brown/white and grey 22.9 ohms and 12.5 volts all seams good,but does the output shafts comming out of transmission always spin?does the four wheel drive engage in the front gearcase or the transmission??i could spin the front drive shaft buy hand on then i went forward and all locked up?MY philosiphy is that it engages in the front gearcase so if it was engaged i shouldn't be able to spin the axle by hand?????is their chains or somthing that drive the front and rear driveshafts that maybe the chain in the transmission that drives the front axle broke????please help

your 4x4 engages in the hubs, the front driveshaft, differential and axles always turn, if you just had no 4x4 i'd say check the armature plate, they tend to warp, but if it's locking up, it's probably the hilliard clutch, I've had a wheel lock up solid while going down the trail, a good cleaning with Brakleen usually works, make sure your hub fluid is full and clean

thanks for the input but that problem has been fixed it was the silent chain in the transmission it took out two other gears as well i took it out in an hour 1/2 would have been back together but parts were on backorder it is fixed now tranny is easy but now front axle pops out in the front left only after installing inch and half lift too short????gorrilla axles must be comming soon!!!!!!
