Question Chain to loose

I have a honda 300ex and my chain is really loose. We cannot figure out how to tighten it and every place wants you to bring it in to have it done they don't want to tell you how to do it. Can some one please tell me how or give me a web site to get a print out on how to do it, Please.

Thank you,
cjlauer

Not sure if this helps.... on some bikes the rear axle is off set where the bearing is. You may be able to loosen the axle and twist it with a pipe wrench in order to have it move forward or backward.

I have a '91 Honda 250X.I've been told lots of parts are the same on a 300EX.Anyway to adjust the chain on mine I first put it on a lift or raise the rear tires off the ground.I loosen the two vertical bolts that pinch the outer rear housing together.I use a line up bar or a large flat head screwdriver stuck into the flat indentations next to the axle sprocket. There is a special tool but it's not absolutly needed.Anyway to tighten pull back and to loosen push forward.Make sure you tighten the pinch bolts after you get the proper tension. It depends what year it is as to where to check the tension. My friend has a '87 250X and his has to be checked on the top.Mine has to be checked on the bottom and it's only 4 yrs newer.Hope this helps
