Brute force factory air box

How waterproof is the 08 brute force 650i ?

I wanna know how deep I can go with no modifications.
Can I go all the way to the seat? or will my CVT get wet and crap out?

YOU can look and see where your factory snorkel go too and see about your CVT. The air box....just look and see where it is and hows its made. I wouldn't go reall deep without snorkels......it's costs too much. LOL!

It is setup kind of funky, looks are deceiving.

I wanna know why you can't just snorkel it through the top of the box.

I found some good home made instructions at mudinmyblood.com

IMO its always cheaper to to be on the safe side. You can make your own snorkels or buy them from Bayou snrkels. It will be cheaper and safer in the long run to do it that way.

The good thing about Bayou snorkels is everything is there and cut to fit. all you have to do is put it on. I can't build or make anything. LOL!

I just did my own snorkel setup.

I was going to do the center snorkel, but I did not like the way everything was crammed in front of the handlebars, and the wires rubbing etc.

So I went out the sides through the removeable storage pocket pieces, since they only cost $15 a piece.

I have not gone through any water yet, since its 18 degress.
I can say one thing though, I think I gained a few horse power with the snorkel.

I took it out for a test run to see if I needed jetting.
In high gear from a dead stop, sitting on the seat, I wheeled it up high than I thought it would.
It used to not pull a wheelie without shifting some weight around, now its just sick low end power.

Not sure about the high end, I hope I did not loose any top end.

FYI, I used the 3" rubber fitting cut in half with a bushing from 3" to 2" and the rest 2" PVC.

Hopefully it does not leak! It would be an expensive $8000 leak... =p

I am still weary about driving my machine into deep water, even with a snorkel.
