| Honda Axle Problem Does anyone know how to fix a rear yoke or stripped gears in a honda foreman 400 4x4 2001? im not quite sure which it is but here is the symptoms of my atv: We took it boggin then got er home then it became a one wheel drive four wheeler thats about it the rear axle still can move and it can run fine just one wheel drive there are no noises coming from the driveshaft. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks | | |  | Apr 7th, 08, 10:41 PM | | alwaysdrunk Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: southeast nebraska

Originally Posted by Mallard198 no the front only spins and back dont only one wheel on your front end will spin,put the atv on jack stands or a lift etc where the tires are off the ground, look at the rear end you should have a rubber boot on the engine side, pull the boot back and see if the shaft is spinning when you rotate the tires, if it don't something in the rear end is broke or the shaft is. if it does put it in gear and bump it fwd or rev and see if the shaft spins, if it doesn't it's a transmission problem or the shaft end that goes in the transmission is broke IMO. hope this helps in finding your problem. | | |  | Apr 9th, 08, 12:31 PM | | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007

| most common problem is the axle splines get worn were it goes thorough the final drive. jack it up and take the fill plug off the final drive and spin the tire by hand while having a finger in the final drive. should feel the ring gear spin or not. could also be the joint from the motor but i would check the axle and final drive first. | | |  | Apr 9th, 08, 05:27 PM | | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2008

| ok i took the boot thing off and it doesnt spin when i rotate the tires it makes a clunk clunk clunk sound like its trying to catch but it cant its almost like its stripped or something | | |  |  |
