I have a 1986 Honda TRX250 Fourtrax with I believe a carbuerator problem. I use the choke on the ATV when starting. After about a minute after starting, take the choke off and apply the thumb accelerator. I have to realy baby the accelerator to keep the engine running until it warms up! There is engine hesitation when applying the thumb acceleration.
Yes, it has a new plug, fresh gas but the carb has not been touched. I did get it statrted over the weekend. I choked it and it run for 5 min or so but you have to continue to accelerate the engine to keep it running.....will not just set and idle on it's own. Could the problem be the idle adjustment or choke cable? Would pouring carb cleaner in the carb while it's running help clean the carb?
Choke cable seems to be OK. It will not idle by itself.....I have to continue throttling to keep it from dying. If I let off the thumb throttle, the ATV will stop running then it is impossible to restart until about 10 minutes later.
Is there anyone in the North Richland Hills area of Texas that would be interested in adjusting the Carb on this 1986 Honda TRX250 Fourtrax? Does anyone know what the cost would be to take this into a Honda dealership for carb adjustment?

Any info would be appreciated.
Your best bet would be just to call the Honda dealer and ask them what it would cost to do it.
