i've never heard of bleeding a oil pump on a atv (not familiar with yamaha), sorry can't help more than that but i'm a honda mechanic and have no clue were all the oil lines hook to on the bear to point you in a good direction.

Some basic questions, don't be offended. Covering the basics usually leads to a solution.

New oil filter?
oil pumps are by design self priming, can you measure the pressure at some point inline?

Oil passages need to be cleaned anyway possible, flushing out with parts washer is sometimes not enough, pipe cleaners (smoking kind) may be of help.

Are all the lines correctly installed making the routing the same as original. I've seen serious racers hook up lines backwards and spend much time trying to figure out why the oil pressure never builds up.

Best of luck,

Doogie

One other possibility, the pickup probably bolts up to the pump, if so it might have an O-ring to seal against the pump, have you checked to see that this seal (gasket or O-ring) is in tact. A ripped seal would certainly deliver the trouble your having. Sucking air is bad.

Hope that helps or at least gives perspective.

Talking oil trouble solved

Well doogie, i got it. hear it is, if any one asks the same ?. Iwas always pulling of the clutch cover right. the oil would drain out. it downed on me the pump must have a pick up line some wear. all sights did not have a exploded view of the oil passages. so i got budy at yamaha to get me a pick. it shows a pickup at the oil plug drain.. I lifted the bike on end puled the drain plug, and low and behold. thier it was apick up line, all pluged up with little bits of rubber tires . they mount on the main clutch. in whitch i changed out with a new clutch. all good now lots of oil going to the head now. as well as mine... thanks
