carb leak

Whats up everybody! i gotta question for all the mechanics out there. Last week i installed new jet kit on my sportsman 700 twin. Well when i hopped on and took it for a spin i came back and smelt gas. Well it was leaking from very bottom spout of carb very quick like. Well my buddy turned the screw too see if that drain was tight and it was. Well we turned gas off and it of course stopped. Waited bout 15 min and rode at again it was not leakin at this time. Drove it back to garage to park checked to see if it was still leaking and it wasnt. Well this past saturday me and some friends went to good ole Busco Beach in NC. Rode arond for bout 3 hrs and carb started leaking gas on hot hot motor. Well it wouldn start back up so i had my buddy tow me to a mechainic that they have on staff out there. Well he took screwdiver and loosened screw on carb to drain gas tapped it a few times and closed it back, It cranked back up and it didnt leak for rest of the day till i unloaded it at the house and it started leakin again. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

I think you will have to take the carb off to clean it out. I suspect that some dirt or somekind of material is causing the needle and seat to leak. When it doesn't start -its most likely flooded-which would require full open throttle/no choke when cranking the starter. The needle valve is above the float-if you didn't know that. You may be able to clear it out with some compessed air. I would guess when you rejetted it you got some trash insde the carb. Good luck! oldatvr.

Dad says i should go back too the jet i had at first cause this bigger one might be spittin too much feul in the carb. So i quit ridin it i guess ima have too take too someone.
