got yamaha warrior yesterday....tank was full of karosene

The kid i got it from said it had wiring isues and that it didnt run cuz of them.Which it does have wiring issues.I can figure that out. But if the machine was never started with the kerosene in it it should be fine right?I should just probly flush the tank and clean carb right?

kerosene, now that's an interesting one. Depending on how long it sat in the tank, lines, carb bowl will determine how much cleaning is needed. Because kerosene has higher lubricating qualities than gasoline, your safe with that. the coating will wear off and probably foul a few plugs, so buy a couple spares. i'd pull the plug and see what it looks like after running it, remember that when you let it idle it will change the color, it should be mousy brown.

i'd take the carb off or at least pull the bowl plug and run gas through it / let it sit full a day / drain it a couple of times. drain the oil and see if there is any floating in the drain pan, other than that unless a chemist out there has some details deeper than most of us common sense types, your good.

Just because he said it was never started does not mean kerosene didn't work its way into the motor.

good luck

Ok thats what i thought..I cleaned the carb last night and flushed the tank and all the gas lines. The spark plug showed no signs of firing so i am positive he never got it to start. I put gas in it last night and got it to fire. But i gotta wait till friday when my new wiring harness comes in to be able to start it again. The kid fryed the whole electrical system by turning it over and over all day long trying to get it to start.New starter on the way to.

yep, i would drain the gas and float bowl of carb then fill it up a quarter tank with and add 2 ounces of sea foam and just let it idle till the smoke clears and it should be fine

Yep i got her running last night..And man that thing is way out of my class she rips and it was very loud....it has a cobra pipe and muffler it makes it sound louder then any harly motorcylce i have ever heard....I imediately swaped it with my dads.So now i am driving a 1990 blaster 200cc 2 stroke with a fmf pipe.It was an even trade because the warrior needed a startor and battery and rear shock and front bearings. But the blaster needs brakes all way around and front rims/tires...they give a ruff ride cuz they warped.
