Question WARN WINCH CONTACTOR PLACEMENT (700 Grizz)

While I was installing a Warn XT 30 winch on the 700 Grizz, I noticed that the mount Warn sells for this ATV has the holes for the contactor already drilled on the back of the mount.
Actually it really helps in the installation process, but I thought that the contactor should be away from the elements, specially water and mud, and I think this place is not high enough to avoid muddy situations.
Is it really safe to place the contactor on the back of the mount?

Here is what Warn said about it:

Hi David,

The mounting location on the back of the mounting plate for the contactor was done in order to help with the installation. At this point we have not had any issues with installing the contactor in this location.

Thanks,

Rich Kadwell
Technical Customer Service Rep. WARN

So, Warn is not going to be responsible if we install the contactor in the place they want us to do it, should we?

I've got mine mounted on the back on my storage box exposed to the elements. I mounted it and then sprayed it with liquid electrical tape (spray on plastic). So far 1 year down and no problems out of that part of the winch.
