| I'm at the 10 hour maintenance point. The book shows a few options for fluid that I've never heard of before. Or I can use the Kawasaki brand named stuff which I'm certain automatically makes it very expensive.
What are you folks using and where do you get it? I don't know where to start looking for this particular juice. | | | | Aug 11th, 06, 06:17 PM | | Mudpuddlin' Darlin' STAFF Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: AR

| My personal preference (which something tells me will not be what others will probably say due to the expense but...) is to use the manufacturers fluid. I own a Polaris and use all the "Pure Polaris" fluids. I like using them because they were specifically made for the bike and trust their usage. We just go to the Polaris dealership to purchase ours. I know there are alot of different options...so this is just my personal preference I would suggest the same for Kawasaki. | | | | Aug 11th, 06, 07:35 PM | | Beer Wagon Driver STAFF Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: DFW, Tx.

| I use the Kawi-Chem Gear & Wet Brake Fluid in the rear of my BF 750.... there are only a couple of options for the rear diffs in the Kawi big-bores...
The last time I discussed this subject the only other approved fluid to go in the Kawi diffs was a Gulf product.... and the smallest quanitity you could buy it in was a gallon.... which would be ancient by the time you used it up. Not to mention taking up all kinds of room on your truck/trailer.
I HIGHLY recommend using manufacturer recommended fluids in ATVs and dirtbikes.... I've seen too many smoking and blowing up that folks used generic oil in.
The following is a list of oils & lubricants I use in my ATVs & dirbikes.
Honda GN-4 10W-40 for all motor oil applications
Honda 80W-90 hypoid gear oil for front & rear diffs in Rincon & Foreman
Honda GN-4 10W-40 for front differential on Brute Force 750
Kawi-Chem Gear & Wet Brake fluid for rear differential on Brute Force 750
I use ONLY Wix oil/fuel/air/tranny filters in any machine I own.
Lucas (RED) Marine grade grease for all bearings and greased fittings... etc.
Honda Chain Lube for all chains & sprockets
Honda foam filter spray for all air intake filters.
Turtle wax "Wet N Black" for keeping fenders, cv boots, seats, and tires looking new.
This is what I do, others differ in opinion.

| Be very careful running plain 80w-90 in any brute or prairie... they have the wet-brake system in the rear differential and regular diff fluid can cause damage to the components or cause them to malfunction.
The Kod's and Bruins and smaller displacement models have conventional disc/drum brake configurations so thier diffs aren't the same.
Also the Prairie/Brutes call for 10W-40 motor oil in the front diffs because of the clutch packs associated with the variable/manual diff locks. Running regular diff fluid in them can damage the clutches and cause damage/malfunction as well.
