I hate the idea of people overpopulating this area but I have to say this place is my favorite so far. Well marked and maintained trails. It has everything hills, rocks, forest, small jumps, water crossings. I will be here again soon with many others. I absolutely LOVE this area and the views are wonderful. On our trail ride through we stopped several times picking up trash on the trail. We hope this will continue for all riders to do since Missouri is not the best know ATV/OHV friendly state. Do get your permits. I have never seen them but I have been told agents do check. If you ever visit the area and need someone to join let me know I will gladly join on this ride.
It's me again commenting on the trails at Sutton's Bluff. This time I visited and camped for 2 nights and rode all the trail with the exception of one and two short cuts. I will have to say it is still my favorite for some nice trail riding. The only trail we had an issue with trail one when we came upon a couple on a can am trying to saw a tree that was in the pathway. Forgot to bring a chainsaw so after a long time attempting to remove it. We attempted to go around even thought the terrain was very hilly. All four of us made it through then the can am took its turn and the driver was on his back moments later. After getting it back on its wheels it made it through. Trail 1 is most likely the hardest but in general it is not very hard at all just don't get too cocky on the turns and when there is a caution or arrow sign, they really mean it! All trails have some water crossings. Some have nice bridges and almost all have the humps that you can jump-my favorite. In total we did over 60 miles getting to the trails and mileage of the trails. The campground just put in nice showerhouses which are the severe weather shelters also. BEWARE of the dogs- two basset hounds one we named Fred(Smokey and the Bandit) like to get your food even if it is in a container. If you go on hot days bring your swimsuit on your ride there are some wonderful swimming holes and springs to cool off in. http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/45c32422...As_OGBzuHVmdlt
I was told this riding area was "closed" - let me know the current status, please. Rode there a lot several years ago - but quit going when they closed the riding down at "Parks Bluff".
It's definately still open. I've been there twice. This last weekend, we camped and hit all 12 trails. Racked up 110 miles on the ATV's! I would agree trails #1 and #2 are probably the hardest, they are more narrow with trees, drop-offs, and/or embankment's leaving little room for error, especially with the bigger machines.
